Manual Cast Iron Juicer — Commercial Hand Press with 400ml Steel Cup

A lever press does something an electric juicer cannot: it extracts the juice without shredding the pith, so what you get is clean and not bitter. This one is cast iron through the frame and base, with the mechanism doing the work rather than your grip.

What it is made of

• Cast iron frame and base — the mass is the point. A light press walks across the counter; this one stays put.
• 304 food-grade stainless steel for the three parts that touch fruit: the pressure cap, the strainer cone and the funnel.
• 400ml (13.5oz) stainless collection cup, removable, sized for roughly two to three glasses in one session.
• Four suction cups on a thickened base plate, so it grips the worktop when you pull hard on the lever.

What it handles

Oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit and pomegranates. Citrus is what it is built for — the strainer cone is shaped to hold a halved fruit and keep seeds and pith out of the cup. It is not a masticating juicer and will not do leafy greens, apples or carrots.

Using it

Halve the fruit, seat it cut-face down on the cone, bring the lever down in one smooth movement. The long handle gives you enough leverage that a grapefruit takes no real effort. Let the lever return on its own rather than forcing it back.

Cleaning

The cap, strainer and funnel lift out and rinse in seconds — do it straight after use, because citrus acid left to dry is what stains stainless steel. Wipe the cast iron body down and keep it dry; like any cast iron, standing moisture is the only thing that will damage it.

Honest notes

It is heavy, which is what makes it work, but it is not something you will want to move in and out of a cupboard daily — it is designed to live on the counter. And it is a citrus press, not an all-purpose juicer. If you want one machine for greens and hard vegetables, this is the wrong tool.
